For some reason, whenever October comes around I’m never bothered about reading spooky books. I don’t tend to read based on the season and I’m not a big horror reader either, so I never feel the pull to pick up these kinds of books around Halloween.
Instead, I’ll be reading a little bit of every genre this month. We’ve got some adult fantasy, YA contemporary, romance, murder mystery, and even a classic on my ‘not-so-spooky TBR’.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Of course, this book is at the top of my October TBR. Since we’re already a week into the month, I’ve actually already finished it, but thought I’d include it on my TBR for posterity. You can check out my full review here.
This is a carryover from my September TBR, as I didn’t get chance to read it last month. I’m really keen to pick it up this month because it sounds fantastic and seems like the ideal autumnal read (possibly the only seasonal read on this TBR).
I was lucky enough to be sent an arc of this and I then also won a finished copy too (!) so I’m reading it his month. It releases on October 15th in the UK.
I’m honestly obsessed with this series. It’s a murder-mystery romance, with two queer detectives as the main characters and I just LOVE IT. So, I’ll probably be reading this and book six in October.
Sorcerer of the Wildeeps
I’ve had this on my saved list on Scribd for a while, and I’m in the mood to listen to a few shorter audiobooks this month before I pick up some longer ones, so I’m going to give this a go (it’s only 5.5 hours).
Speaking of longer audiobooks, my library hold for this just came in, so I think I might finally read it in October.
The Poet X
I’m hoping to read this for Latine/Latinx Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th to October 15th. I’ve had a copy of this on my shelves for ages, so I’m really looking forward to giving it a go.
This is our October-November pick for the new book Alison and I have started, the Sprayed Edges Book Club. Again, this has been on my TBR for a long time, so I’m glad to finally be reading it this autumn.
What are you reading in October? Have you read any of these books or are they on your TBR?
