Books I want to read for Latinx Heritage Month

This month is Latinx Heritage Month (also known as National Hispanic Heritage Month), which runs from 15th September to 15th October.

To celebrate Latine authors during this month, I want to read five Latine-authored books that I’ve been excited about for ages.

Cemetery Boys

Cover for Cemetery Boys.

This is one of my most anticipated release of the year and I’ve got a beautiful hardback of this sitting on my bedside table, just waiting for me to dive into.

Incendiary

UK cover for Incendiary by Zoraida Cordova.

I started this back in May and I was thoroughly enjoying it, but put it down to finish other books. Latinx Heritage Month seems like the ideal time to try and finish this.

Miss Meteor

Cover for Miss Meteor

This YA contemporary sounds fantastic, but I’m adding it to my list tentatively because I’ll only be able to read it in the next four weeks if it arrives on Scribd. I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll have it once it releases, because it sounds like a story I’ll love.

Running

Cover for Running by Natalia Sylvester

This is about a young girl, Mari, whose Dad decides to run for President. It feels like a very timely read since the US Presidential elections are coming up soon and I’ve enjoyed other political YA books that I’ve read this year, so I feel like I’ll enjoy this one too.

The Poet X

Cover for The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo.

I’ve had a copy of this on my shelves for ages, and this month feels like a good time to finally pick it up. Plus, I just read Punching the Air recently and loved that, so I’m in the mood for more novels in verse.

Are you reading any books by Latine authors this month? Have you read any of these?
