TBRs and Wrap ups

May TBR // Asian Readathon TBR

May is Asian and Pacific Islander American heritage month and the brilliant @ReadwithCindy is hosting Asian Readathon again this year.

I really enjoyed taking part in 2019 so I’ll be doing so again this year and I’m excited to be picking up some books that have been on my TBR for AGES.

Asian Readathon runs from 1st to 31st May and there are five optional prompts to complete.

Prompt 1: Read any book by an Asian author.

45184250

For this prompt I’ll be reading Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco. I’ve had an ARC of this for a little while and I’ve noticed that it’s also recently been added to Scribd so I’ll be switching between the audiobook and the physical book. This will be the first Rin Chupeco book I’ve ever read so can’t wait to lose my virRINity.

*opens door* Sorry, I’ll let myself out.

Prompt 2: Read a book featuring an Asian character or written by an Asian author who you can relate to.

33224061

For prompt 2, I’ve chosen The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee. This is written by a woman and the main character, Jo, is a young woman who enjoys writing and takes on a role as a journalist. This is similar to what I did while at university (I was an editor on the uni newspaper) so I can relate to that.

Prompt 3: Read a book featuring an Asian character or written by an Asian author who is different from you.

50286298

I’m picking Mad, Bad & Dangerous to Know by Samira Ahmed for this prompt because one of the main characters is Muslim and I’m a Christian, so we differ in our beliefs. Also, can we just talk about this cover for a second? The colour, the design, the POWER. I love it so much.

Prompt 4: Read a book recommended by an Asian friend

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)

For prompt 4, I’ll be reading An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. This was recommended to me by Charvi @NotJustFiction (thank you Charvi!) and I’ll be buddy reading it with Shealea @ShutupShealea.

Prompt 5 (Optional): Read Little Fires Everywhere

36509779. sy475

If I’m able to get a copy of this, I’ll be picking up the group book too during May.

I’m also going to be finishing The Silence of Bones during May, because I’ve been reading this in April and it’s an Asian authored book set in Joseon (ancient Korea).

44280973

Other books I might try and pick up for Asian Readathon (if I have time lololo):

36220348. sx318 36199084. sy475 28927772. sy475 3309958851191785. sx318 sy475

Other books on my TBR I need to get to in May:

4052281451925604. sx318 sy475 45167534. sy475

I honestly don’t know how many of these books I’ll get to in May, but I read 13 books in April, so I’m going to try and carry that energy forwards. At the very least, I want to read the four books on my Asian Readathon TBR and finish The Silence of Bones.

What will you be reading in May? Are you taking part in any readathons?

Until next time,KateNEW

  1. All these seem such great books! I really want to read some, like Wicked as you wish, Mad Bad & Dangerous to Know, and An Ember In The Ashes. You’ll love The Kiss Quotient! Is such a cute and funny book.

For may I’ll be reading some books like A Darker Shade of Magic which I’m really excited about, The Dark Tide which I’m highly anticipating, and Dark and Deepest Red for my retellings book club😊

  2. Great TBR! I’m so curious about Wicked as You Wish, the story sounds amazing. I recently bought The Silence of Bones and I can’t wait to read it. I don’t have a particular TBR, I just read whatever I feel like reading, haha.

  3. I adored the Kiss Quotient. It’s just the kind of book to put me in a good mood and it’s been a while since I’ve swooned so hard. I really need to read another Stacey Lee book cause I adored Outrun the Moon.

  4. Good luck with your TBR! 🥰 I’m also participating in the Asian Readathon and I’m so excited! I’m also curious about The Downstairs Girl, it sounds like it could be such a great book, I hope you enjoy it 😊
