Our aim was to get people reading and to bring a little bit of cheer to these uncertain times.
And hopefully we succeeded!
A lot of people joined in on Twitter and Instagram and said they were having fun with the reading sprints. People also shared Tea (since it was PositiviTea) and other drinks/snacks they were having while reading.
I managed to read 3 of the 5 books on my TBR and start the fourth.
I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC of this book and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.
It was funny, brilliantly dramatized, and the characters were fantastic. I loved the wuxia-inspired backdrop with bandits, nuns, and magic. There’s a bit a heist element and LGBTQIA+ rep.
I can’t wait for more people to read this because it’s fantastic.
This was the first book I read for the readathon and it was a really sweet middle grade. I’ve been meaning to pick it up since Jess @A Book Addict’s Bookshelves gifted it to me and I’m so pleased I finally did.
Everyday Angel is about an Aria who arrives on earth and must find her charge so she can help them with their current struggles. She learns things about herself and her purpose along the way, as well as brightening the lives of those around her.
When I finished this novel, I had to sit for a moment and just absorb everything. It was so powerful and scrutinised the sexism in Korea intensely.
This book is about motherhood, the sexualisation of women, the gender pay gap and gender imbalances in the world place. It also has supernatural elements at the very beginning and end and it’s so well crafted.
I also started The Guinevere Deception, but I only read a few chapters before the end of the readathon. I’ll be continuing with this book this week.
A book that will make you laugh – The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water
A book with a yellow cover – Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982
An uplifting story of any kind – Everyday Angel: New Beginnings
Overall, I’m pleased that I managed to read three books and even happier that I loved them all. A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the readathon and to my wonderful cohost Beth. You all made it a wonderful weekend!
Did you take part in the PositiviTea and Books readathon? If so, what did you read? If not, what have you been reading this weekend?
