*Pointedly ignores the fact that we’re halfway through May*
So I’m hoping to finally get to some books that have been on my TBR for the past two months. (Or in the case of Children of Blood and Bone, actually finish it.) Almost all of these are YA, so it’s going to be a pretty young adult-heavy month.
These are the books I want to read:
I now own all of these, so there’s no excuse for me not to read them. Last month I was planning to read I Was Born For This, but my e-arc expired before I could finish it. Now, however, it’s out in the world for all to enjoy and I treated myself to the beautiful paperback copy, so I can definitely read it during the rest of May. I’m also determined to finish COBAB this month, as I’ve been procrastinating on it since March.
What are you reading during May? Have you picked up any of these YA books?
We are almost halfway through May and I haven’t read not one book on my TBR list. I only read Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions, but I want to finish A Darker Shade of Magic, Alex and Eliza, The Cruel Prince, and The Hounds of Baskerville. Yeah… I don’t think my book count will go higher than 3, maybe 2. Oh well… good luck!
Omg this was me too until a few days ago! What are we like?! How was a Feminist Manifesto? That sounds like something I’d enjoy 🙂 Definitely see if you can finish A Darker Shade of Magic – it’s so brilliant! (I’m totally biased though because it’s my favourite series 😉 ) I’m hoping to read all of the books on this list during May, but we’ll see. My track record in April wasn’t too good haha!
The manifesto is so good it’s basically tips on how to raise your daughter a feminist. I am loving A Darker Shade of Magic, but I’m not reading as much as I would love to because since I’m loving it so much whenever I continue reading I have a hard time stopping. Last month I read a lot of poetry and graphic novels, but only one novel. I’m hoping to read at least 2 this month.
That sounds really cool! Ahaha I know what you mean – sometimes you want to savour a book, but it’s so good that you end up flying through it really quickly! I hope you got to the novels you’ve were planning to read!
I did I read The Cruel Prince, Alex and Eliza and I finished A Darker Shade of Magic.
I WAS BORN FOR THIS!
Sorry, Kate, it’s me and I’m back to scream about I Was Born For This hahahaha. I’m sorry I’ll stop, but I’m really eager to hear your thoughts on that one! ❤ ❤ I also finally have a copy of COBAB and I can't wait to dive in, hope it lives up to the hype 😀
Happy reading! 😀
I FINALLY STARTED IT THIS MORNING MARIE! I’m pretty intrigued already and I can’t wait to carry on with it on my commute home. I really like Jimmy and Angel seems like such a relatable character with her love of fandom 🙂 If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see that I posted a photo of I Was Born For This yesterday in all it’s summery, orange glory. It’s such a pretty cover. Let me know what you think of COBAB when you start it 🙂
I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR IT and that you’re enjoying it yay!! ❤ ❤
Aaaaand I finished it. Wow. What an emotionally uplifting and sensitive book. It was SO GOOD.
YAY YAY YAAAAAAY this makes me so very happy that you loved it!! ❤ ❤
It was so good! I really loved the way Alice Oseman explored platonic love. YA books hardly ever do that. I’m going to try to finish my review and post it later this week 😀
I can’t wait! 😀
I hope to read LOTO and I Was Born For This before the end of the mobth too, and I’m looking forward to both a lot 😊
Amy x
Oh, awesome! Did you manage to pick them up? I ended up preferring IWBFT to Leah 😛
I’ve read IWBFT, and REALLY enjoyed it! X
I’ve been so curious about Of Fire and Stars since it came out but I always forget about it. I will have to read it before the sequel next yearr thhough, that is my limit. I hope you enjoy all of these, they certainly sound great!
Me too, and I’m only now (finally) getting round to picking it up. I actually don’t think I’m going to get to it this month because we’ve only got two days left and I’m still finishing The Smoke Thieves, but hopefully I’ll read it next month.
Thanks Anna, I’ve definitely enjoyed the books I’ve read so far 🙂
Yay, so many great books on your TBR. I loved I Was Born For This, Children of Blood and Bone and Leah On the Offbeat, hopefully, you will do too! I am very curious about Of Fire and Stars and A Girl Like That is on my TBR as well. I am planning to read Strange the Dreamer and The Collector Of Worlds this month, and I recently bought Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng and I can’t wait to read that one as well ❤
Your TBR is brilliant, many of these books are actually sitting on my shelves ready to be read too! I read I Was Born For This and absolutely adored it, as I normally do with all of Alice’s books! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Aww thank you! ❤ I'm making my way through I Was Born for this too and really enjoying it so far. Which other books are you about to read? Maybe we could buddy read one if we've got a lot of the same TBR? Up to you though!
Oh yes! I’d say either Leah on the Off Beat or The Smoke Thieves would be interested in a buddy read with you 🙂
I actually read Leah a few weeks back, but I’m just starting The Smoke Thieves today if you wanted to buddy up? No pressure though, as I realise it’s short notice! 🙂
I only just saw this! SO sorry, maybe we can buddy read something another time?
Hehe no problem! Just let me know what you’re reading over the next few months 🙂
Good luck with your TBR! ❤
I’ve just gotten Children of Blood and Bone, but I haven’t had time to read it and I kind of want to savour it and take my time with it 🙂 I’ve also heard so many great things about Alice Oseman, I really need to read some of her books 🙂
Thanks my lovely! Yeah, it’s a good book to read at a steady pace because a lot happens in every chapter. I just finished my first Alice Oseman book, which was I Was Born For This and it was great! Would definitely recommend 🙂
Oh I have heard sooo many good Reviews for I Was Born For This, it’s getting harder and harder to resist buying this book 😀
It’s a really sweet and uplifting book, but it covers some very serious issues with sensitivity and insight. I’d definitely recommend it 😉
I saw this post and was like “oh my god is this how far behind I am in blog hopping!” then saw the “halfway through May” part and breathed a sigh of relief ahahaha 😆 The Smoke Thieves was on my hypothetical TBR for May, but considering I’m not even halfway through my third book this month I think that might be one for next month instead.
Ahaha aww bless you, no, it’s just me being ridiculously late with my TBR for the second (third?) month running. I need to get my head in the game for June. 😛 I’ve just started The Smoke Thieves this morning and it seems good so far. The changing POVs keep things fresh, but the writing seems a little clumsy at times. Hopefully it’ll improve as the story progresses. Do you think you’ll end up picking it up?
Ahh, hope so too! I have a copy sent to me so I need to read it asap really, so the next few weeks probably!
So, update: I’m about 100 pages in and I really don’t like the writing style 😛 It’s so stilted in places and is starting to detract from the overall flow of dialogue at times. I’m going to persevere with it because some of the sub-plots are interesting, but the narrative is way too clunky for me!
Whoops, only just seen this. We already had our ranty chat so all I shall say is I’m very much looking forward to your full review 😆
Hope your TBR is going well. I really enjoyed so many books on your list, so I’m really hoping you get to them and love them as much as I did 😀
Thanks my lovely! It’s actually been pretty good so far, just hurrying to try and finish the book I’m reading in the last two days of May! Which books did you like? I’m curious to know if I’ve read them now! 🙂
I really enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone, of course, and I Was Born For This is pretty special too 😀 Still got Leah… to read myself, but I’m hoping it is as awesome as Simon…
