February 20: Books I’ve Decided I’m No Longer Interested In Reading
There have been quite a few books that I’ve recently decided not to read after having had them on my shelf or TBR for a while. I’m sure most of these are good books, but the hype has died down and the plot doesn’t intrigue me, so I’ve just lost interest in reading them.
There’s a chance I may still pick these books up in the future, but for now I’m striking them off my TBR, as I’m just not intrigued by them anymore, and I have so many other books to read.
Which books have you lost interest in reading? Are there any that you’ve recently unhauled?
I am not quite ready to abandon Heartless entirely, but I struggled for sure when I started it last year and then just put it on hold. So, I can definitely see why it’s on this list.
I’ve seen other people say they struggled to get into it too, so you’re definitely not the only one, and I think my own lack of excitement for it coupled with people’s mixed reviews is what’s made me take it off my TBR and add it to this list! 😉
I haven’t read any of these tbh so not sure if I should try and convince you to read or not 😀 I’m sure they’ll still stick around – never say never.
Lynn 😀
Hehe, never say never is kind of how I feel about most of them – I may read them in a few years, but for now it’s just not to be! 😉
Ooh, I loved Daughter of the Pirate King. Alosa’s such a sassy, bad-ass character! Too bad the story doesn’t intrigues you. 🙂
intrigue* Oops.
Ah, that’s good to hear you liked it! I definitely didn’t want this to be a list of ‘books I don’t think are any good and therefore am not going to read anymore’, but instead a list of books that I’ve just lost a bit of excitement and hype for. I may still end up reading them one day, but for now they’re coming off my TBR!
I can totally relate. I have a bunch of books like that at home but.. it’s not like I’d unhaul them, haha. I might get my excitement back at some point. 🙂
Yeah, I know what you mean. There’s some books that I’ve had on my shelf for years and haven’t read, but I’m still too attached to them to get rid of them. 😛
Nice post. I really enjoyed reading Heartless and Furthermore! A book I lost interest in is Daughter of a Burning City and Flame in the Mist, I received them both in Fairyloot boxes, but I don’t feel like reading them, haha (although I really want to)
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed them, as I definitely don’t think they’re bad books, but I just can’t see myself picking them up in the next year or so. I read Daughter of the Burning City and gave it 4/5 stars; it was a good murder mystery, but it didn’t amaze me and I found the narrative style too simple at times. I think Flame in the Mist is still on my TBR, but that might be another one I decide to remove 😉
Heartless made it onto my list as well this week. I loved the Lunar Chronicles but I’m just not drawn to Heartless. Maybe someday, but for now the book is permanently on hold.
Surprisingly, I was kind of indifferent to the first book in the Lunar Chronicles series, so I didn’t continue with it, and I think that’s part of the reason why I’m just not fussed about Heartless anymore. I’m usually interested in retellings, but the hype train has passed on this one for me. 😉
Yep, I’m not interested in Heartless either, even if I loved TLC…but Heartless and Fairest? meh for now 😀
I’ve only read the first book in the Lunar Chronicles and I thought it was good, but I wasn’t intrigued enough to want to continue the series straight away, and I just can’t see myself getting to Heartless sadly!
yep, sometimes it happens like that, nothing to do but move on to books that interest us more, right? 🙂
Exactly, I completely agree!
