Blogmas Day 7: Series I NEED to finish next year

Blogmas Day 7

Sometimes, when I begin a new series, I manage to buy or borrow all of the books in a short space of time and finish it within a few weeks/months. But, more often than not, I’ll pick up other books in between, and leave the second and third books for months and months. These are just a few series that I definitely need to finish next year!

The Star-Touched Queen duology

I read the first book in this duology back in May, but I haven’t picked up the sequel yet, despite having plenty of chances to buy it!

The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy

It’s been about two year’s since I read The Sin Eater’s Daughter and I still haven’t managed to pick up books two and three (the shame). I think this was because I enjoyed the first book but wasn’t wowed by it, but hopefully I’ll finally get to them next year.

The Graceling trilogy

I absolutely adored Graceling, and raced through Fire, but then never got round to pick up Bitterblue and I can’t fathom out why. The only reason I can think of is that my local library never had it and it often wasn’t in Waterstones or other bookshops. But still, I could have bought it on Amazon?! I’ll have to fix this next year.

The Snow Like Ashes trilogy

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but I think the second had only just some out when I read it, so I started other books, and in true Kate style, the third book has now also come out and I still haven’t read the sequel. Whoops.

The A Song of Ice and Fire series

I’m up to A Storm of Swords part II in the ASOIAF series, and I know the reason I haven’t finished this one. These books are long. And I mean seriously long. They’re brilliantly written and plotted, but so long. So each time I read one, I went away and read other books, then came back for the next one. But eventually I stopped coming back and have now been halfway through the series for about two and a half years. But George R. R. Martin probably won’t release the next book for another 78 years, so I’ve got time to catch up.

What are some of the series you need to finish in 2018? Are there any that you started years ago like me? Have you read (and completed) any of these series? Let me know!

Until next time, Kate

    1. Oooh I hope you manage to complete them both! I’m sure you’ll have more luck than I’ve had with these ones! Asking for the other books in a series as presents is a great idea, as it means they’re ready to be picked up, and there’s even more incentive too because someone else got it for you! 🙂

  1. I also adored Graeling but never continued with the series because I had no access to the sequels, which sadly has happened a lot to me- I wanna read The Sin Eater’s Daughter and The Star-Touched Queen; hope you enjoy them and you get to finish all of those!
I am also planning on finishing some series next year; I even created a challenge for that to get motivated (which worked great this year so yay!).

    1. Aww no, that’s such a shame. Do you think you’d be able to find it in a library anywhere? Or do a trade for it? The first books in both the Sin Eater’s Daughter and Star-Touched Queen series were good, but I wasn’t blown away by them, and I think that’s part of the reason why it’s taken me so long to get back in to them. I definitely want to finish them next year though!

  2. I would definitely recommend finishing The Sin Eater’s Daughter trilogy – I wasn’t wowed by the first book particularly either, and read the second book about a year later, and I loved it so much that I went on to buy the final book as soon as it came out!

  3. I’m putting the whole G.R.R. Martin series on my TBR for next year. One of my series-goals.
Who knows if I’ll make it, haha. Especially since I read the first couple of books once and found myself skimming certain POV’s I thought were boring..
