Happy Tuesday all!
For those not familiar, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish, and this weeks theme is:
August 29: Ten Hidden Gem Books in X Genre
I’ve been trying to read more translated fiction by international authors this year, so for this week’s theme I’m going to look at five hidden gems I’ve discovered, and five I plan to read and think will be hidden gems.
The five books I’ve read and was surprised by are:
These were all books that turned out to have much more depth than I was expecting, and a sense of spirituality too. The Alchemist is now one of my favourite books, and I’ll recommend Strange Weather in Tokyo whenever I get the chance.
The five books on my TBR that I hope will be hidden gems are:
Having thoroughly enjoyed Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist and been incredibly moved by Han Kang’s The Vegetarian, I’d like to read more of their works, including the two on this list. I’ve heard murmurs of greatness about the other three books and am hoping to get to them soon.
Have you read any translated fiction, or any of the books on these lists? What did you think? As always, link me to your TTT posts and I’ll come check them out!
