April is here and I’m SO excited for spring! The weather seems to be warming up (please let it continue) and on my train journey yesterday I saw approximately 4372 lambs. It was joyful.
I had a much better reading month in March than February, mostly thanks to all the commuting I was doing while in London. I was there for two weeks doing work experience with a small publishing company, which was brilliant. More on that in a post to follow!
I managed to read six books and a short story this month, which I was really pleased with since I had a busy fortnight in London.
The books I planned to read were:
And the books I actually read were:
So I didn’t read everything I’d planned, but I’ve mostly forgiven myself since I read more than expected. Sadly, I started Days of Blood and Starlight but had to return it to the library before I could finish it (noooo), so I’m hoping to grab myself a copy or loan it out again in the next few weeks. I also still haven’t got to ACOL (what’s wrong with me?!), but definitely will during April.
Tokyo Ghoul vol 1
Daughter of Smoke and Bone
The Star-Touched Queen
To celebrate International Women’s Day at the beginning of March, I wrote about some women authors and characters that inspire me.
I’ve been struggling to motivate myself to write reviews recently, so I thought I’d discuss my slump.
I started doing a new weekly meme this month! The Friday 56 is a quote-based meme, where each week you turn to page 56 (or 56% in your e-reader) of a book you’ve recently been reading and choose a quote. It’s a really fun way to get more people interested in books they might not normally pick up!
I love going to the theatre (though I don’t get to very often) so I thought I’d participate in World Theatre Day by writing about books you might not have known were adapted for the stage!
General Life Updates
- I’ve been in London for two weeks doing work experience with a small publisher and it was great! I fell *a little bit (*a lot) in love with the city and if I ever had any doubts about wanting to live there they’ve been completely blown away now!
- While in London, I went to see Alwyn Hamilton, Samantha Shannon and Lee Weatherly at their Waterstones book event and it was everything. I got to talk to Alwyn in person and she was so friendly/lovely/funny/wonderful. And she knew who I was from twitter. *dead*
- I started reading a Korean manhwa called Noblesse (a weekly serialised web comic) and I’m addicted. It’s over 450 chapters long and in eight days I’ve read 230 chapters. No regrets. (You should go check it out here!)
- My parents are moving house in about a week and a half and since I’m currently living at home I’ll be moving with them!
That’s all for this month! Let me know what you guys read and anything exciting you got up to!
